Adoptable Cats

Call 360-452-0414 for information

These are the cats we currently have available for adoption.
Cats at the top of list are the newest arrivals.

Ben

Ben is a quiet, slightly shy brown and white tabby, about seven years old. He came to the shelter with his buddy, Tigger, when his owner went into a care facility and could no longer take care of her kitties. Ben and Tigger are buddies, and would sleep together and wash each other at their former home. He has a sweet disposition, loves attention, likes people and welcomes any and all visitors. His favorite thing is to roll on his back and have his belly scratched – and you can do that for as long as he likes! If you are looking for a sweet, well-mannered cat in his prime, who will love you forever, be sure to come and visit Ben. He would be very happy to go home with you.

Tigger

Tigger is a slender, sleek, shorthair orange tabby with white boots and a white patch on his chest. Stretched out, he’s the longest cat we’ve ever seen. He came to the shelter with a companion cat, Ben, after his owner became ill and was unable to care for him any longer. At three years old, he’s just a youngster, and definitely acts his age. He has a wonderful personality, and is curious about everything. Wandering around the intake room, he checks out the cat food containers, pokes his nose around several cabinets, and stretches his considerable length up the wall for anything he might have missed. He loves people, and will follow visitors around the room, rubbing legs and butting heads. His antics will entertain you for hours!

Patty Cake

Patty Cake came to us after her owner passed away unexpectedly, and his two young sister kitties were left alone. Good Samaritan neighbors were able to rescue Patty quickly and bring her to PFOA. She immediately took over our Quarantine room with her chatty voice and her little paws reaching out to snag our hands for petting. Patty is a pretty young brown tabby with an expressive face and a medium coat. She is very affectionate and wants as much love as you can give her. At this time we would like to see the two sisters stay together, so consider how much joy this pair could bring to your household this holiday season.

Jaynie

Jaynie, sister to Patty Cake, is a lovely silver tabby who is just cute as a button! Trapped several days after her sister was rescued, Jaynie had suffered some scrapes and abrasions to her face which have now healed nicely. She is a little more laid-back and smaller than her sister, but just as sweet and loving. Now spayed, vaccinated and ready for adoption, let these wonderful sisters add twice the fun to your life!

Blue

Blue is a large, handsome male kitty with the lovely silver-gray coat that we see with the Russian Blue breed. Left behind when his owners moved, he was found by a couple looking at a house for sale. This hungry boy was waiting on the back porch for his owners to return - and there he sat day after day as the Good Samaritan returned to feed the poor guy for two weeks. After posting ads and the proper notifications, Blue came to Safe Haven. What a wonderful cat!! Friendly and social, he gets along with other cats, and everyone he meets. As a rule of thumb, the Russian Blues are smart, affectionate and all-around nice cats. This boy certainly fits that bill!! If you are looking for a beautiful, regal kitty to grace your life, give us a call to meet our very own "Blue Boy".

Corabeth

What a life of drama, struggle and devotion this little mom has lived! Cora showed up at our door in a crate with six tiny kittens and two older kittens - an extended family who had been rescued by a neighbor after their owner died. We agreed to take the large family into one of our foster homes, and arranged for their vet check. We were devastated when the smaller kittens proved to be ill, and even with the best of care and nursing, we lost two. The other four survived and were thriving, but CoraBeth became moody and disinterested in the now three month old kittens. Imagine our surprise when this young mother (who had been in our care for over six weeks and the most attentive mom ever) proved to be near to delivering a third litter!!

Off to another foster home went Mrs. Corabeth, and the new trio of babies was delivered only a few days later. Showered with love and ready to be spayed as soon as her milk dries up, this pretty mom is now looking for a home of her own. She would like to be an only cat, as she is your typical tortie - independent, loving, smart and a little bossy with other cats!! She deserves a special family who will appreciate her intelligence, playfulness and determination to care for her babies in spite of all the changes and difficulties she has endured. CoraBeth has another five lives left, and if you can provide her with the love and safety in which she deserves to live them, please give us a call!!

Miss Muffitt

more pics
(will open in new window)

Miss Muffitt is a large Maine Coon mix with the gorgeous brown tabby coat with white trim and huge round eyes we associate with that special breed. Adopted as a tiny kitten, she was relinquished at the age of nine when she just didn't make friends with a new dog in the home. Sad and bewildered by her loss of home and family, Miss Muffitt is looking for a quiet, peaceful haven where she will be the only treasured companion.  She is social and friendly, and your typical Maine Coon - curious and interactive and also capable of being independent. She loves to sit beside you while you work on your computer or watch t.v. - what a special girl!  If you are interested in a middle age beauty, then give us a call to meet Miss Muffitt!!

Gravy

more pics
(will open in new window)

Gravy is a classic brown tabby with the bull’s-eye on his side. He is a sleek fellow, accustomed to being part of a multi-cat household, and he enjoys having his tummy rubbed. He has a lovely long tail, and is very proud of it. He loves to pose for photos with his tail either proudly held aloft, or sitting with his tail curled around his legs. One of his favorite spots is the top of the cat tree, where he can keep an eye on things as well as be easily scratched and petted.

Junior

Junior is a brawny male brown tabby who arrived with his friend Gravy. Originally a bit shy, this guy has warmed up to the many volunteers who spend time with the kitties at the shelter. He now sits at the door to his cat room with Gravy, greeting visitors. He loves to be petted and scratched, and will ask for loves as long as you are willing to pamper him.

Scotty

more pics
(will open in new window)

Scotty is a big black cat that tugs at your heart strings. Probably eight or nine years old, he was a stray who showed up at a group home periodically and provided comfort for the residents who really needed a friend. Scotty couldn't stay there because of allergy issues, so a permanent home was sought for this big fellow. Friendly and affectionate, Scotty is just a good boy who really yearns for a home of his own. A little rough around the edges in appearance because of his time spent bumming around, he is starting to gain weight and his coat and eyes are shining again. All of his lab tests have come back good, and Scotty is now waiting and hoping for that special person to recognize what an exceptional fellow he is and take him home to shower him with the love and luxuries he has been denied. He deserves the best!!

Sitka

more pics
(will open in new window)

Sitka is a petite little Russian Blue female around 10 or 11 years of age. She was tearfully returned to PFOA last week when the elderly couple who had adopted her eight years ago had to move closer to family for health reasons, and Sitka couldn't go. We promised to find a wonderful home where she can live out the rest of her life, so we are now starting to look for that special placement for this special girl!

Sitka was described by her "dad" as a loving, affectionate lap cat who greeted all visitors and happily lived indoors. She slept with her owners and loved to snuggle in their laps while they watched t.v. Perfect with her litter habits and good with their grandchildren, there was nothing negative her folks could say about Sitka! While she is a bit feisty at the shelter still, she is settling into being that sweet cat that her family so adored. So, if you would love to make the day of a very sad couple and provide Sitka with a quiet, peaceful indoor life, please consider adopting this pretty little cat!!

Walton

more pics
(will open in new window)

Walton is an exceptionally gentle boy. Mr. Mom to a younger litter of six kittens, he would wash and nurture the wee ones, and treated them with such kindness! He has a particularly endearing personality, and is quite devoted to his sister, Olivia. Needing a new family after their owner passed away, Walton and Olivia will make the perfect pair for a peaceful, quiet home.

Olivia

Probably around 9 months old, Olivia is a beautiful gray long-haired girl with peach accents. Olivia and Walton are siblings who are as soft and sweet as they are pretty!! Affectionate, playful and just all-around wonderful young cats, we can't say enough nice things about this lovely pair. Spayed and vaccinated, we would like for this duo to be adopted together!

Leda

more pics
(will open in new window)

Leda came to us a cute young kitten who just didn't find the right home that first year, and ended up moving downstairs in the spring to our adult catteries. Staff and volunteers wondered why this nice, tidy brown tabby was overlooked again and again, as we found her to be sweet and easy-going. Finally Leda found a home, but shortly afterwards, the family moved out of the country and Leda was returned to PFOA. Then Leda was adopted by an elderly couple who just had to return her for health reasons along with a companion cat, Raspberry. Poor Leda is now hoping for a home where she will always be part of the family and never have to be uprooted again. If you can provide gentle Leda with a secure, loving home with safe outdoor access, this is the girl for you!! Perhaps you might have enough space and love in your heart to adopt her friend, too?

Bobbie Jo

more pics
(will open in new window)

Bobbie is an adorable special-needs Manx kitty. She came to us last fall when we received a call from an elderly gentleman that there was a kitten dying under his deck. When we arrived, we found a tiny kitten in a real mess, but she had no intention of dying - this little girl is a fighter! Bobbie has done very well, but as is common with some Manx cats, she does not have good bowel and bladder control. While this has greatly improved, she still requires special care and attention, and will probably do so for the rest of her life.

Funny, affectionate, playful, and full of energy, Bobbie is a pistol-pop!! She is alternately kissing your face and grabbing your hand for play. We ADORE her, and have put a lot of thought and energy into providing her with as stimulating an environment as possible. However, at the end of the day, this remarkable kitty needs to be with a loving family. If you have the time, space, energy and ability to deal with such a special girl, please give us a call. Bobbie Jo is well worth the effort she will require!!

Tony the Tiger

more pics

(will open in new window)

Tony the Tiger arrived at Safe Haven after a tragic house fire. He is a majestic orange long-haired gentleman who was the center of his owner's world. He is beginning to adjust to his very altered circumstances, having lost everything. After an extensive dentistry, Tony is feeling and eating much better. He enjoys his sock filled with catnip, and responds to gentle coaxing. He also is fond of leftovers. This gentle old fellow just melts our hearts. He needs lots of love and affection.

Sheba

Sheba is a cat with only seven of her nine lives left!  A little black feral mom  with four kittens, she was found in a commercial trash compacter shortly before it was activated. We were able trap the whole family over a couple of days, and discovered that Sheba had probably been hit by a car and had a broken leg, jaw, and a huge open wound on her head. Her kittens were put into foster homes, socialized and adopted, but Sheba was quite wild and required extensive veterinary care and nursing. She has gradually become much friendlier, and, today, this little beauty would pass as a regular social butterfly - although shy, she welcomes affection and attention. We would love to place Sheba with her boyfriend, Mango, who shares her quarters.

Bert

Bert and Ernie are two of the cutest little silver tabby manx brothers ever. Bert has a white blaze on his chest. They were found taped in a cardboard box on the side of the road near Forks. Friendly, loving and devoted to each other, they are the perfect pair.

Bert and Ernie are two of the cutest little silver tabby manx brothers ever. They were found taped in a cardboard box on the side of the road near Forks. Friendly, loving and devoted to each other, they are the perfect pair. Why someone would choose to abandon them in such a callous way is beyond comprehension to those of us who treasure our animals.

Rain
more pics
(will open in new window)

Rain is a sweet little Tortie taken in by one of our volunteers when she appeared to be homeless. Gentle and a bit shy, Rain will blossom into a wonderful kitty in the right environment. We are hoping to place her with a patient, quiet indoor home where she can feel safe and special. Torties are known for their intelligence and inquisitive nature, so it will be a real joy to see Rain's personality reflect the good fortune that will come her way in a home of her very own!

Trudy

more pics
(will open in new window)

Trudy is a beautiful, short haired dilute calico who was turned in by her owner to another shelter. Unhappy with life in a cage and disliking other cats, Trudy came to visit with us at PFOA until just the right new home comes along! She is an affectionate, charming girl who would like to be the "queen bee" cat - however, she seems to accept well-behaved dogs. She is 12 years old and in fine health. Trudy is an "easy keeper" with a shiny coat that doesn't mat. This medium sized girl will make a wonderful companion for a single senior or would do well in a quiet adult home. Please call for a meet and greet with Trudy today!

Pippin

more pics
(will open in new window)

Pippin and her sister Priscilla are a truly bonded pair of 4 year olds who rely on each other for everything and must be adopted together. They never overcame the fear of the dog in their adoptive household. Pippin has more orange in her face, while Priscilla is the darker of the two. Adopting both together means 'double the pleasure, and half the work', as they will be self-entertaining.

Eldon

(will open in new window)

Eldon is a gorgeous brown bulls-eye male tabby. Found on Bell Hill with a nasty wound on his tail, this fellow may have narrowly missed being some coyote's lunch! Luckily, he was taken in by one of our volunteers and given the best of vet care before coming to Safe Haven. Friendly, affectionate, playful and endearing, Eldon is a short-haired young adult who likes other cats and cat-friendly kids. We can't say enough nice things about this special boy!!

 Mango

more pics
(will open in new window)

Mango is a young and energetic fellow who needs room to run. He likes people but can get overstimulated easily. Mango has had some poor treatment in the past and needs a patient and understanding person or people to help him trust again. He's fun and playful, and sweet when he feels secure. Mango needs a home with safe outdoor space to explore.

Primrose

more pics
(will open in new window)

Primrose (Rosie) is a gorgeous princess with "torti-tude". She and her sister had been abandoned and were brought to the shelter. Her sister was adopted, but Rosie was struggling to adjust to all of the changes and developed severe allergies. Her allergies are now under control and she is becoming more outgoing all the time. She lives in the common area now because she is on a special diet. Rosie has adopted our Business Manager (and her desk) as her own. She is a terrific cat who will bloom in a permanent setting.

 Li'l Bear

Li'l Bear is a 2 year old cat who was rescued from a sad situation. He has tested positive for FELV — a kitty form of leukemia that can be transmitted to other cats through bite wounds or years of close daily contact. Bear is sweet and loves interacting with people. He would do well in any loving home where he is the only cat or with another FELV positive cat. However, he will need to live his life indoors so there will never be any chance of him infecting another kitty. It is quite possible that Bear will have no future health issues and will live a normal life span. Please call if you are the special person looking to adopt this precious boy.

Marcus

more pics
(will open in new window)

Marcus is a beautiful and extremely sweet 11-year-old male whose owner could no longer care for him. He is so gentle and kind — a special kitty who just wants a loving home in which to live out his life. Marcus will be a loyal friend and would do especially well in a peaceful home where he can be the center of attention. He's had some rough knocks in his life, but still maintains his wonderful disposition. There is nothing about this big fellow not to love!

Fagin

more pics
(will open in new window)

Fagin, 9, is a green-eyed, short-haired black male who can best be described as a "big lug" full of love once you get to know him. Both brothers are a little shy and need time to adapt. Fagin and Thistle are a duo who know how to pull at your heartstrings and who need to be adopted together.

Thistle

more pics
(will open in new window)

Thistle is a sleek, black, polydactyl 9-year-old male. He has magnificent copper-colored eyes and a sweet demeanor that will melt your heart. Thistle is diabetic who requires twice daily insulin shots. His brother Fagin joins him to make a great team, and they do need to be adopted together.

Mr. Perkins

more pics
(will open in new window)

 Adopted!

When the concerned daughter called to tell us that her mother’s cat, Mr. Perkins, was a big boy who needed an emergency placement, she wasn’t joking. This gorgeous tuxedo with the black dots on his cute nose is 21 pounds of BIG cat. He is so darn cute with his shiny round body and chubby happy face that he just makes you smile!! He is friendly and laid back and everything you want a cat to be. At 10 or so, he has a lot of good years left to spend with the special person who appreciates a full-figured guy (but it WOULD be nice to see him exercised and dieted a bit). If you have a big place in your heart to fill with a big cat, please call us to see Mr. Perkins! You can’t help but fall in love with this charming fellow—we already have!!

Hannah

more pics
(will open in new window)

    Adopted!

Hannah is the sweetest little lady ever! Returned to PFOA after her devoted "Mom" passed away, this gentle girl reminds me of my precious aunties with their kind ways and little white shawls.  A pretty champagne tabby with white trim, Hannah is around 10-12 years old, and is in good health. She gets along with other cats and has never been known to be anything but gracious and loving to everyone. She would do best in a quiet home with possibly a single person to dote on her and give her the attention that she so deserves and desires. If you can provide a loving forever home for this very nice cat - who has already lost at least three - please give us a call and ask to meet Hannah!

Robbie

more pics
(will open in new window)

  Adopted!

Robbie is an adorable gray tabby teenager. Sweet, sweet, sweet - this fellow rolls over on his back and takes your hand to ensure that he will get enough petting. He likes other kitties and loves all people. Still young enough to be adaptable, but old enough to see his adult personality, Robbie is an ideal age. If you are looking for a gentle boy whose disposition is so good, then consider our Robbie!

Stormy

more pics
(will open in new window)

 Adopted!

Stormy is a spunky little year+ Russian Blue female who came to us after she had problems being a bit naughty at another shelter. Adopted by a young man who played too roughly with her on her back, Stormy thought that hands approaching her meant instant roll-over for rough play time. She is gradually learning that hands now mean gentle play and loves, and is settling down to be a nice cat! Smart and inquisitive, Stormy is an affectionate little girl who needs a cat-savvy person to help her learn to channel her play positively and just generally settle down.............If you are that person who likes a challenge (and not such a tough one) and loves the Russian Blue's, give us a call today to meet Stormy.

Conrad

more pics
(will open in new window)

 Adopted!

Conrad is an elegant long-haired orange and white tabby boy. He is such a love - sweet, affectionate and craving attention. A middle-aged fellow who has been there and done that, Connie would be happy to have a loving home with a warm lap to curl up in and a snuggly bed to call his own (with his person to share, of course). Conrad is the sort of cat we just love at the shelter - so easy-going and pleasant that we can hardly wait to greet him each day. He has quickly become a favorite with the staff and volunteers, so ask us for an appointment to spend an afternoon getting to know Conrad!

Peter
more pics
(will open in new window)

Adopted!

Peter (formerly known as Petunia before a closer look) is such a gorgeous boy! His giant round eyes just make you laugh with their expression of fun and animation! A huge Maine Coon with the typical fluffy fur and big feet, this boy still has some growing to do. He LOVES people and attention, and is a very busy and active cat. He was found as a stray begging at one of our volunteer's door to come inside, but he would like to have some safe outdoor time, as well. Peter gets along with other cats, and would enjoy a home where he receives a ton of attention and play time. A young adult, Peter has a lot of love and years to give to his lucky adopter. This is one special boy!!
