Sponsorship: Room in your heart but not in your home?
(See individual animals and their bios on next page.)
One very important way in which you can help support Peninsula Friends of Animals is the sponsorship of a cat or dog with special needs.
A "Special Needs Animal" is one that is hard to adopt because of age, illness, injury, trauma, shyness or a variety of other conditions. For instance, a cat with diabetes typically requires a special diet and may require daily insulin injections and regular blood testing. A traumatized cat may have been abused or injured and now finds it difficult to trust humans which results in shyness or unreliable behavior.
Why do they need sponsoring?
Special Needs Animals are harder to find placement for because of the extra medical care and/or attention they require. Medical costs are higher for our Special Needs companions. Food and shelter are expensive. Sponsors enable us to continue providing these cats and dogs with the best care possible. Most of them will stay with us forever, receiving medical care, love and the respect they deserve.
What are the benefits of sponsorship?
- Sponsorship is a wonderful way to add a new cat or dog to your family without actually taking it into your home.
- Sponsors receive issues of Cat's Meow with information about all the animals in PFOA's Sponsorship Program and will get updates and photos of their cat or dog if requested.
- Sponsors also receive a tax deduction and the satisfaction of helping a valued cat and/or dog in need.
The Perfect Gift Idea
You can sponsor an animal for yourself, your family, or a friend. How about your company, class or club? It's a wonderful way to teach children about our responsibility to help other living creatures, and it's a great way to acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions.
Sponsoring a Cat or Dog is Easy!
Monthly sponsorship is just $10 per animal. A cat or dog may also be sponsored for an entire year for $120 or for a lifetime for $500. Upon receipt of your check or letter expressing interest in sponsoring a Special Needs cat or dog, we will send you pictures of your sponsored animal along with their history and how they came to PFOA.
