PRESTON

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Gray tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Preston is just about the coolest cat ever! He’s a very handsome gray tabby, with just a month or two until he can celebrate his second birthday (in early May).

He’s very people-friendly, and hasn’t met a human he didn’t like! He loves attention, loves laps, loves being petted, and loves having people play with him. And although he really enjoys his human friends, it’s very important to him to have other cats to play with and just hang out together. We think he’s so used to being around other cats that he really needs the feline association – he does not like to be alone. Preston definitely needs to be part of a multi-cat family. Just one or two cat buddies will suit him just fine.

Preston enjoys visitors, and would love to meet and greet his prospective new family. If Preston sounds like a good fit for your family, please give us a call to meet this incredibly cool cat.

PEATREE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Grey/white
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none
Bonded with: Dill Pickle

Peatree is a very sweet polydactyl kitty who is bonded with her good friend, Dill Pickle.  The two of them were friendly and outgoing in their previous home, and Peatree loved playing with Dill Pickle.  They were brought to Safe Haven by a person who loved them very much, but who was going through an unforeseen job change and sudden move, and was unable to keep them.  It was a shock to Peatree and Dill Pickle to lose their home, and it has taken some time for them to adjust to their new surroundings.

Peatree loves toys and feather wands, and she’s great at chasing and bouncing on them.  And she loves to sit with familiar people who will give her the gentle petting and head scratches she loves.  In their previous home, both girls have lived with a herding breed dog.  And having never experienced the outdoors, both kitties are perfectly happy enjoying the view from the safety of their home.  Although Peatree and Dill Pickle are not sisters, they are very bonded and are looking for that perfect new forever home together where they will be a wonderful duo for their new family.

DILL PICKLE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black/white
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none
Bonded with: Peatree

Dill Pickle is a very sweet black and white kitty with a very cute black chin and nose.  She is bonded with her good friend, Peatree, who is the older of the two – by about one year.  The two of them were friendly and outgoing in their previous home, and Dill Pickle loved playing with Peatree.  They were brought to Safe Haven by a person who loved them very much, but who was going through an unforeseen job change and sudden move, and was unable to keep them.  It was a shock to Dill Pickle and Peatree to lose their home, and it has taken some time for them to adjust to their new surroundings.  Dill Pickle is more shy than Peatree, and she needs a little more time to adjust to visitors.  But a little patience is really worth the time to get to know this sweetie.  And … she really loves her wet food!

In their previous home, both girls have lived with a herding breed dog.  And having never experienced the outdoors, both kitties are perfectly happy enjoying the view from the safety of their home.  Although Dill Pickle and Peatree are not sisters, they are very bonded and are looking for that perfect new forever home together where they will be a wonderful duo for their new family.

MACGYVER

Domestic mediumhair, male
Color: Black and white
Age: Senior
Bonded sibling: Maverick

Maverick and MacGyver are a pair of very handsome cats.  The ten year-old brothers came to us from the home where they had lived for almost eight years, due to a change in the owners’ circumstances.

When they first arrived, they were very shy, but thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, they are gradually becoming more people-friendly.  Maverick allows volunteers that he knows to pet him while he’s lounging in his cat tree.  And MacGyver also enjoys being petted by selected people.  They both know their names, and enjoy the sound of people gently talking to them. The two are making good progress, and will need a forever home with patient, cat-savvy people who can spend the time these brothers need to adjust to new surroundings and continue to learn to trust people.

BENJI

Domestic medium hair, male
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none
Declawed

Benji is a rarity in the rescue world–a declawed cat who doesn’t bite or show any of the usual behavioral issues we see in most cats who have lost their claws. With his gentle demeanor and quiet but loving personality, this handsome boy would be a wonderful addition for a quiet home with folks who are there most all day.

Eight year old Benji was adopted as a kitten and declawed at the time of neutering. He was adored by his senior “mom” and led a happy and healthy life until her passing earlier this year. The out-of-state family could not take him, but were very concerned that Benji find just the right placement, and so they brought him to Safe Haven.

Benji is a true gentleman who is tidy in both appearance and his daily habits. He loves attention and has a ready purr. While he is a bit shy initially, he will warm up quickly with lots of love. If you are looking for a debonair fellow with lots of charm, this boy will brighten your days!!

WATERMELON

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Black w/white
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded brother: Binx

Watermelon and her brother, Binx, came from the same place as Callie, Snowball and Sterling, but these two cuties had quite a different start in life. Watermelon and Binx, along with another kitten, were found in a plastic bag that had been dumped in or near a river. When they were found, the bag was partially in the water. It was a miracle that all three kittens survived!

Watermelon is a very pretty young longhair black kitty with a very distinctive white stripe down her nose and mustache on her muzzle. She is very sweet, and very vocal like her brother.  The two of them are bonded, and Watermelon lets Binx take the lead in most activities. Her favorite spot in her former home was the back of the couch, and the way to her heart is with food and treats.

Binx and Watermelon are a bonded brother and sister.  They are both used to a lot of activity, and many cats, dogs and children of all ages. The two of them just can’t wait to find their new forever home together!

STERLING

Domestic medium hair, female
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Sterling came to Safe Haven from the same home as Callie and Snowball, but her early life could not be more different. Her person was visiting her sister when she realized that her gentle dog had brought her a present. It turned out to be a very young kitten! Her person took Sterling home and bottle fed her, and Sterling grew up to be a very social, very loving kitten.  So much, in fact, that she seems to really love everyone she meets.  Her specialty is to wrap herself around a person’s legs.

Sterling has been around many children,  cats, and dogs of all ages.  Her favorite playmate early in her life was a small dog.  This very active kitten loves all cat toys, and she’ll do best in a home with other cats or dogs.

BINX

Domestic longhair, male
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Snowball

Binx and his sister, Watermelon, came from the same place as Callie, Snowball and Sterling, but these two cuties had quite a different start in life. Binx and Watermelon, along with another kitten, were found in a plastic bag that had been dumped in or near a river. When they were found, the bag was partially in the water. It was a miracle that all three kittens survived!

Binx is an all-black, very handsome young longhair cat whose favorite activities are petting time, cuddle time, and lap time. And his favorite, and most important, time of day is breakfast. He loves his morning wet food, and he’s very vocal about telling you how much he loves it (as well as sharing anything else that’s on his mind at the time!)

Binx and Watermelon are a bonded brother and sister.  The two of them just can’t wait to find their new forever home together!

SNOWBALL

Domestic medium hair, female
Color: Dilute Calico
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Callie

Snowball is a five month old dilute calico kitten. She’s a little more laid back than her very active sister, Callie, and she’s very curious. She loves to watch what her caretaker is doing, and she loves to be petted. It just takes her a little longer to “warm up” to people. She enjoys her outdoor catio, where she can watch everyone coming and going, as well as the birds flying and the trees waving in the breeze (or accumulating snow). And since the catio is completely enclosed, Snowball feels perfectly safe. She is especially sweet at dinnertime, and lets her sister take the lead with the food.

Both Snowball and Callie have been around many animals, mainly dogs, cats and rabbits, both large and small, in their previous home.  They are used to a lot of activity around them, and are used to children of all ages.

Showball’s best friend is her sister, Callie.  The two of them are firmly bonded, and love playing, bathing and sleeping together.  The two of them are looking forward to going home together!

CALLIE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Calico
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Snowball

Callie is a five month old calico kitten. She’s very energetic and playful, always on the go, and is the first one at the door to greet visitors. Her favorite toy is a feather wand, and she loves to sit on her hind legs and play with it. Her next favorite toy is anything else in the kitten room that looks like it would be fun to play with. And with all that playing, Callie has a hearty appetite, and jumps right in when it’s dinnertime.

Both Snowball and Callie have been around many animals, mainly dogs, cats and rabbits, both large and small, in their previous home.  They are used to a lot of activity around them, and are used to children of all ages.

Callie’s best friend is her sister, Snowball.  The two of them are firmly bonded, and love playing, bathing and sleeping together.  The two of them are looking forward to going home together!

ROSIE

Domestic short hair, female
Color: Calico
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Rosie came to us after being abandoned and spending last year’s snowy/icy winter in a shed behind an empty rental house. She had apparently been an indoor only cat who was terrified and just hunkered down, as she only came around to the neighbor’s house in the spring when she was weak and starving–I think she weighed less than 5 pounds. I believe she is over 9 pounds now. When the owner of the house came to ready it for sale, he said that she had been left there, apparently.

Rose was microchipped and she had come from Texas. She actually had another name, but we called her Rose of Texas for that reason. She was estimated at 13 years old. After repeated calls, there was no response from the registered owners.

Due to the damage done by the starvation and eating who knows what kind of trash to try to survive, Rose has a sensitive stomach and now eats a raw food diet and does really well–she must be kept on that diet. She also has seen an opthamologist and gets daily eyedrops.

So, Rose is your typical calico—smart and affectionate and chatty. She should be an only cat. She needs an experienced cat owner with the desire and funds to continue her special diet and meds (which are easy to do). She gets six month check-ups with the eye specialist in Port Orchard. She would be a wonderful companion for a senior home with lots of time and love to lavish on her. Rose is a VERY special girl!!! She will blossom with a loving family.

WINNIE MAE

Domestic long hair, female
Color: Brown tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Winnie Mae came to us as a little stray from the West End. After hanging around a local RV Park for a few weeks, she was not claimed and was brought to us by a Good Samaritan. She is still quite young–probably three or four.

An absolutely gorgeous Maine Coon-looking kitty, Winnie is a bit shy but extremely sweet and loving once she gets to know you. She loves to run with your feet and likes to be petted. After her time as a ” lost” cat fending for herself in the woods, Winnie is hoping for a quiet loving indoor home where she can decompress and rule her kingdom. She already looks the part– she is so regal and beautiful!

If Winnie Mae sounds like the perfect cat for you, give us a call to meet this beauty. Everyone who sees her is mesmerized by her deep green eyes and sweet disposition–prepare to be dazzled!

CHAI

Domestic short hair, female
Color: Brown tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Meet Chai!  One of her most favorite things to do is to lounge around in her cat tree and watch all the outside activity. She’s just a youngster: she’ll celebrate her second birthday in May. She’s a very pretty little brown tabby, as you can see from her photos, and as sweet and talkative as she can be.

She was found in a box at Walmart as a kitten, adopted, and was left with family members when her people moved away. They all loved her but they had dogs, and Chai went outside when the dogs did. She either got lost or decided she liked a neighbor’s home better, especially when the neighbor was feeding her! So she lived in their shed for the next six months. The nice couple who originally adopted her loved Chai and didn’t want to give her up, but they planned to travel for a couple more years and were worried that Chai would continue to roam. So they agreed that Chai could be brought to Safe Haven to find a new forever home.

Chai is very soft, with big chubby cheeks and huge round green eyes. She’s a classic tabby, also known as a “bullseye tabby”, which is somewhat unusual to find in a female cat. She likes other cats, but is also pretty independent and seems happy just doing her own thing. She likes to be petted, but no one’s sure whether she’s a lap cat or not because she spends so much time in her favorite place in the cat tree with the green blanket.  If Chai sounds like she would be a good fit in your home, give us a call to meet her.

CHARLIE

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Orange tabby w/white
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Charlie is a very special, energetic young male, almost a year and a half young. He has so much energy that he wants to do all sorts of things, all at once. And being a young man, he loves to play. When he first arrived at Safe Haven, he was a little too energetic, and found peoples’ shoes, shall we say, a bit too interesting. But our Staff has worked diligently with Charlie, and he’s calmed down a lot. Now, after a play session with one of his favorite feather wand toys, he’s ready for a time out with some gentle petting in exchange for a nice loud purr.

Charlie is a very intelligent cat. He even figured out how to open the door to his room by reaching up and pulling the handle down. And because he tends to gobble his food, Staff gave him a puzzle feeder to stretch out his dinner time. Charlie loves it. Because he is so intelligent, thrives on attention and needs mental stimulation, he will need a cat-savvy family with experience in reading cat body language. He will also do best in a home with no children and no other pets.

KENT

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Grey tabby w/white
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded brother: Clark

Kent and his brother Clark are handsome shorthair brothers.

Kent is the grey brother.  He loves to be a part of everything you are doing, he will flop over for you and play with you gently.  He loves to play just as much as his brother but doesn’t take it as seriously as Clark. He loves the sunshine, and loves to cuddle and lick your hands and face as you give him pets. He is a true love bug. He is friendly with other cats, but Clark is his BFF.

Clark and Kent are a little over a year old, and bonded, so they are looking for a forever home together.

CLARK

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown tabby w/white
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded brother: Kent

Clark and his brother Kent are handsome shorthair brothers.

Clark is the brown brother, very playful and loves to flop over and make biscuits in the air for you and to sit on your lap. He loves the feather wands; they set off his natural instinct. He loves to lounge in the sun by the window with his brother. They love to do everything together include share food dishes and bathe each other.

They are a little over a year old, and very bonded, so they are looking for a forever home together.

ROMEO

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded brother: Sammy

Romeo is a gentle boy who is bonded with his brother, Sammy. He is somewhat shy at first, but once he comes around, he truly blossoms and loves to be petted and talked to.  He is very inquisitive. He loves to be up high or in an enclosed bed. Sammy and Romeo don’t always cuddle but they communicate effectively with each other through mannerisms, gestures, and perhaps just a look.  Sammy always leads the way for Romeo.  Both brothers don’t always care to be held, but they do love attention and adore being petted all over.

These handsome shorthair brothers are very much bonded, and will thrive in a forever home together.

SAMMY

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown tabby
Size: Small
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded brother: Romeo

Sammy is a sweet, petite tabby boy who loves nothing better than  to be petted and fed. Food time is a special time for Sammy.   He’s also very talkative with people who are doing anything close to him.  He’s always the first to pop his head out, with Romeo closely following his lead.  He may be small but his personality is extra-large.  He loves to be cuddled up in a nice warm cozy bed when he’s not pursuing other interests … like food.  And there’s every evidence that Sammy and his brother love to play with their catnip toys at night!

Sammy and Romeo are very much bonded brothers, and absolutely need to be in their new forever home together!

SUGAR COOKIE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black w/white
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Candy Cane

Sugar Cookie is one of four sisters in the litter referred to as the Christmas Goodies Kittens. This little girl LOVES to play. She especially likes to bat at things and definitely seems like the type of kitty who would really enjoy wand toys. She hasn’t gotten to do that yet, but she’s just the type to really enjoy it!. She loves to play with Candy Cane, and the two of them need to find their forever home together.

LINZER

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black w/white in ears
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Sprinkles

Linzer is one of four sisters in the litter referred to as the Christmas Goodies Kittens. This girl is the shyest of them all but she is definitely a curious kitty. She’s one of those “thinking” cats that takes a minute before she does anything. She is the “wise” one of the group, so to speak. She also LOVES to tell you about her claws being trimmed.  Her favorite sister is Sprinkles, and the two of them are looking for their forever home together!

CANDY CANE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black w/white
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Sugar Cookie

Candy Cane is one of four sisters in the litter referred to as the Christmas Goodies Kittens. She is the most playful of the group. She has a TON of energy and zooms around the room as quick as she can. She likes playing with all of her sisters, and we think she’d like to go home with Sugar Cookie. They both have a lot of energy, and match each other’s energy level the best.

SPRINKLES

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Linzer

Sprinkles is one of four sisters in the litter referred to as the Christmas Goodies Kittens. She is the sweetest little girl that just loves to cuddle up next to you. She is a purr box. She is bonded with Linzer, and the two of them need to be in their forever home together.

BUBBLES

Domestic medium hair, male
Color: Orange/white tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Bubbles has quite the personality, especially considering he’s still a kitten.  He loves people, and will follow staff and visitors alike wherever they go.  Our shelter staff is very fond of Bubbles, especially when he uses the litter box at the same time it is being cleaned!

Everyone who meets Bubbles just falls in love (or at least strong like) with him.  They especially love to watch him play.  And Bubbles loves all people, but especially ones who like to play with him.  He will play with people as long as they stick around, and if Bubbles had his way, they would stay all day.  And if his visitors have to leave, he’ll just play all by himself.  He has a great purr, and is just a basically all-around happy kitten.

If you would like to meet Bubbles, just give us a call.  You’ll be happy you did, and Bubbles will be even happier!

TAYLOR

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Black/White
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none
BONDED WITH HUDSON

Taylor and Hudson are such a handsome pair of brothers dressed in their formal black and white attire!! Around a year old and surrendered from a home where there were MANY cats and dogs, these are very sweet boys who are quite friendly and very cuddly. Taylor is a bit shyer than his more outgoing brother, but both are now waiting for staff at the door and wanting lots of hugs and snuggles.

Extremely devoted to each other, these two must be adopted together, as one is never far from the other’s side.

If you would like to meet these exceptionally nice boys give us a call!!  This dynamic duo will bring their lucky new family twice the joy and fun for the Holidays and many years to come.

DAWSON

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown tabby w/white
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Dawson is one of a litter of four kittens – two males and two females.  These adorable little guys and gals will be ready for their forever homes after Thanksgiving!  They will go home in pairs – we’re just not sure at this point which ones will end up together.

Dawson is very playful and curious, but just a little bit “dorky”—he’s the type of kitten that might try to run thru a sliding glass door.  He likes to hop onto shoulders or backs and hang there for just a minute or two before he jumps down and starts playing with his siblings.  He’s quite fond of getting petted.  At this point, he seems to be most bonded with Sitka—they spend a lot of time playing together.

HOMER

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown tabby

Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Homer is one of a litter of four kittens – two males and two females.  These adorable little guys and gals will be ready for their forever homes after Thanksgiving!  They will go home in pairs – we’re just not sure at this point which ones will end up together.

Homer is the largest of the kittens, and he seems to like Ruby the best.  He likes to go wherever she goes, and unlike the other two kitties, he doesn’t push her too hard when they are playing (Ruby is a little more quiet than the others).  Homer has a sweet purrsonality and is a little more social than the others.  He strikes a good balance between play and pets.

Sitka is the most playful of the four and has the most energy.  She has just a little bit of cattitude.  She’s very independent and spunky, and very smart to boot, as she seems to figure things out faster than her siblings.  And a smart little girl like her will soon figure out that kitten toys are more fun than hands and feet!

RUBY

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Brown tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Ruby is one of a litter of four kittens – two males and two females.  These adorable little guys and gals will be ready for their forever homes after Thanksgiving!  They will go home in pairs – we’re just not sure at this point which ones will end up together.

Ruby is the smallest and most affectionate of all the kittens.  When people visit the kitten room, they all talk about the three that meet and greet and then go off to play, and the one that just wants to stay and be cuddled.  That’s our Ruby—she would rather sit in a lap and get pets than play with her brothers and sister.  She gets a little upset with Dawson and Sitka because they sometimes get carried away with playing, and we think she likes Homer the best!

HORUS

Domestic medium hair, male
Color: Black/white tuxedo
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Horus was originally adopted from Safe Haven as a five month-old kitten. At just over two years old, he’s now just an overgrown kitten. We call him our “energizer bunny” because he’s a very active kitty, always on the go. He’s a very handsome tuxedo with a big white bib that he keeps very clean. He’s very smart, and curious about everything. According to Horus, there are no secrets, and everything is worth exploring because it could be something to play with. He gets along well with adults and older children, and will do best in a home with cat-savvy people who can give him the attention he wants. So if Horus sounds like a good fit for your family, give us a call for an appointment to meet him. He’s quite the character!

EMMA

Domestic medium hair, female
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Emma is a beautiful youngster who came to us in late October. She was very much loved by her “dad”, but his job required very frequent, lengthy travel, and he was unable to take her with him.

She has gorgeous green eyes and a soft, silky coat that just begs to be petted.  She’s a bit shy with people at first, but when she gets to know them, she will zoom right over to them for pets.  She has a lot of energy and seems to do everything at high speed, especially eating the wet food that she loves.  With her gorgeous good looks and great personality, we expect her to find her new forever home soon.  If Emma sounds like good fit for you, be sure to call for an appointment to meet her.

FIG NEWTON (“FIGGY”)

Domestic short hair, male
Color: Brown tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young

Fig Newton is a large, trim brown tabby, affectionately known as “Figgy.” A relative youngster, he’s about 5 years old, and full of energy. He’s very chatty, and loves to talk to people – he especially likes it when the people respond, and they can have a real conversation! And he loves to play. Toys are one of his favorite things, especially ones on wands where he can jump or stand up and bat them around. He’ll love to have a forever home with an affectionate family who can give him the attention he loves!

ROXY

Domestic short hair, female
Color: Gray and white
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Roxy first came to Safe Haven as a youngster—that was about eight years ago.  She was a very handsome and very curious kitten, and it was no surprise to anyone  that she got adopted very fast.

But Roxy’s story is very much like a lot of the other kitties here.   She ended up being bounced around quite a bit, and is now back at Safe Haven looking for her new forever home.

She’s a sleek, gray and white cat with a tuxedo pattern, and a short, smooth coat. She has a sparkling white bib, tummy and paws, and big round green eyes that get even bigger and rounder when she is excited. One of her favorite positions is to sit on her hind legs with her paws slightly in the air. This lets us know she’s ready for anyone or anything that interests her. She likes toys, and one of her favorite things is to carry little toy mice around. When she has her rump scratched (another of her favorite things), she gives head butts while purring softly. She loves to play with the feather wand, but anything that moves and flutters suits her perfectly. She is very curious, always on the go, and able to entertain herself quite well, as well as provide hours of entertainment to visitors. She does like to sit on a lap now and then, but she’s much too busy checking things out to spend much time there.

She’s kind of an independent soul, and would probably be happiest having her new people all to herself in a one-kitty family. And she would probably do best in a home with a loving mom and no cats OR dogs.  So if Roxy sounds like your perfect cat, give us a call!

TINA

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Sealpoint
Size: Small
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Meet Tina! She is a beautiful Himalayan polydactyl kitty (for those who don’t know, that means she has the extra toes!) She is an energetic kitty, and absolutely loves people. She enjoys talking to people and greets them with a soft head butt and rewards them with her full attention and loving ways. She is actually rather small under all of that fur, but she has a big personality. If you would like to know more about Tina, please call or email us at pfoa@olypen.com or 360-452-0414.

MIMOSA

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Tortie
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Willie

This adorable young polydactyl tortie had a litter of six before arriving at Safe Haven. She came from Forks with two other kitties…Willie and Nelson. It was originally thought that Willie and Nelson were a bonded pair, but it turned out that Mimosa and Willie are the bonded pair,  and both were very unhappy when separated.  Now back together, they bath and sleep together all the time!

Mimosa is very keen…and watches things.  In most cases she lets Willie take the lead and he usually does.  She is not a shy kitty.

WILLIE

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Orange tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded sister: Mimosa

This handsome young orange tabby came to Safe Haven from Forks with his brother, Nelson, and sister, Mimosa. It was originally thought that Willie and Nelson were a bonded pair, but it turned out that Mimosa and Willie are the bonded pair,  and both were very unhappy when separated.  Now back together, they bath and sleep together all the time!

Willie is very protective of his sister, and will often act as a buffer between Mimosa and visitors. It’s probably unnecessary, as Mimosa is outgoing and definitely not shy. But she often lets Willie take the lead in activities (and he usually does).

BLUE BELLE

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Grey
Size: Small
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Blue Belle is a petite, friendly young longhair girl, about three years old.  A kitten born to a feral mom, she was originally found outside a trailer and brought to Safe Haven.  It didn’t take long for this little sweetheart to find her new home.

Unfortunately, she proved to be a little too active for her new family, as she’s quite curious and did manage to get outside on occasion.  She was recently returned to Safe Haven to find a new home.  She is good with children and has also been known to get along with small dogs.  She’s a very gentle girl, and loves people.  So if Blue Belle sounds like your kind of gal, give us a call and set up an appointment to meet this sweet little girl.

SAVANNAH

GREGORY

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown tabby with white bib
Size: Medium
Age: Kitten
Special needs: none

Gregory (Greg) was born in late May of 2022 and arrived at Safe Haven in late August. He’s about the same age, but a little more shy than the litter of four kittens, as he arrived about two weeks after them.  Visitors need to take it a little slowly with Gregory because his first instinct is to run and hide.  But he adjusts pretty fast, and will come right out to be petted.  And will purr up a storm because he loves getting pets.

He’s adorable, quite the doll, and has been called an owelet in the past because of his big eyes.

HELEN

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Tortie
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Helen is a great senior tortie.  Quite social and very loving, she has completed all her dental work and is now ready for a quiet home where she can be the queen bee.  She does get along with some cats, but not all, so a roommate isn’t out of the question.  It just has to be the right kind of kitty who will fit with Helen’s personality.

So if you’re looking for a very nice senior kitty who is social, very friendly and loving, give us a call, make  an appointment and come meet our lovely Helen.

PUMPKIN

ABU

Domestic longhair, male
Color: Black/white tuxedo
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded stepbrother: Ali

Abu is a beautiful long-haired boy. He has the most sweet and docile personality. He loves to be petted and will stand on his back two legs to bump his head on your hand. He gets along with just about any other kitty.  And, he’s a huge cuddle muffin!

Abu (age 2) and Ali (age 1 1/2) have been together since kittenhood, and are very bonded.  Although they are not siblings, guess you could call them stepbrothers.  Or maybe just inseparable sidekicks, as the characters they are named for in the movie “Aladdin!”  (Abu is the mischievous, kleptomaniacal monkey and Aladdin’s (Ali’s) loyal partner-in-crime.)  Looks like both kitties were aptly named!

They must be adopted together!

ALI

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Gray/white
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded stepbrother: Abu

Ali is a gorgeous gray-and-white kitty. He’s a bit shyer but once you get to know him, he’s just as sweet as Abu.  Ali is the more energetic and playful of the two. He might take a bit longer to be introduced to another kitty but with a slow introduction he does well with other cats.

Abu (age 2) and Ali (age 1 1/2) have been together since kittenhood, and are very bonded.  Although they are not siblings, guess you could call them stepbrothers.  Or maybe just inseparable sidekicks, as the characters they are named for in the movie “Aladdin!”  (Although Ali (Aladdin) has top billing, Abu, the mischievous, kleptomaniacal monkey, deserves equal billing.)  Looks like both kitties were aptly named!

They must be adopted together!

CHER

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Sonny

Cher is a gorgeous all-black longhair beauty.  She and her best friend Sonny arrived at Safe Haven in early July.  The striking pair didn’t wait long to find their forever home – just a week later they went home.  Although our quarantine period is generally at least two weeks, Sonny and Cher were able to make a fast turnaround because all their vet checks had already been done and their records were complete.  Sadly, the new home did not work out for them.  Although their new family quickly grew quite fond of these great cats, they quickly found out that Cher needed to be in a home without dogs.

Cher is a very confident, interactive cat.  She will follow her person around the house, watching the activities and occasionally asking for attention.  She loves their cat tree, and naps there frequently.  She is very protective of Sonny, and Sonny often lets Cher take the lead when they are exploring or playing.

Both Sonny and Cher are loving, affectionate cats who enjoy attention, whether it is playing or being petted or brushed.  They both enjoy having their belly gently rubbed.  One of their favorite activities is to sit on the windowsill and keep a sharp eye on the birds and anything else going on outside.  At night, they watch the bats.  And they both enjoy being held in their person’s arms or taking a tour of the house.

They both enjoy interaction with people, are comfortable with visitors, and will be happiest in a quiet home with no dogs and with people who have time to devote to them and be their friend. This bonded pair must be adopted together.

PICKLES

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Black
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: FIV+

Pickles is just the coolest cat ever! He came to us after testing positive for aids when brought in for neutering at a local clinic. With some large wounds, it was apparent that this boy had been in a scrape of some kind–it is kitty mating season and fighting for girls is probably how he contracted this disease. Since the family had other cats and dogs and kids, they did not feel that Pickles could be kept safely indoors in their busy home, so we were the winner in the Best Cat Lottery!!!

Social, affectionate, playful and mellow, this happy guy is a shelter favorite. He should be an only cat or live with another laid back kitty who does not want to fight or is already FIV positive. Since Feline Aids is spread through deep bite wounds or mating (this boy’s party days are now over, so that part is no longer a problem), Pickles will need to be kept strictly indoors for the rest of his life to protect him and other cats.

If you think Pickles will add a little spice to your life, give us a call to meet this really exceptional guy!

SONNY

Domestic short hair, male
Color: Orange tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Cher

Sonny is a very handsome orange tabby.  He and his best friend Cher arrived at Safe Haven in early July.

Sonny is a quiet, relaxed guy.  He has a sweet nature and is very loving. A little uncomfortable with new surroundings at first, after a few days he adjusts and will be back to his sunny nature. His BFF, Cher, is very protective of Sonny, and Sonny often lets Cher take the lead when they are exploring or playing.

ASPEN

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Brown tabby w/white
Size: Small
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Aspen is a very special young lady, about a year old.  She’s a tiny little girl, but makes up for her size with an abundance of energy.  She very social, and will talk your head off if you let her.  She actually stands at the door to her playroom and yells for someone to come in and pay attention to her.

Aspen is fun-loving, affectionate and loves to play. Whether it’s a feather wand, bouncing ball or even wiggling fingers, she’s right there, ready for playtime.  She gets along well with the other kitties in her playroom, and would do well with friendly cats.  And she’s very food-motivated, but maintains her petite figure with all the energy she expends.  A super-cute, all around great kitty, we expect it won’t be long before Aspen finds her purrfect home.

MOLLY

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Tortie
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Hamish

Molly is a very lovely senior kitty.  She’s 13 years young, but looks and acts younger.  One of four kittens born to a shy little Chocolate Siamese, she was originally named Stripey (notice the pronounced stripe down her nose), and was fostered by one of our shelter managers until she was old enough to find a forever home.  She and her brother, Hamish, were adopted on their two-month birthday by a longtime PFOA supporter who gave them their new names, and the two of them lived happily in their new home for almost 12 years until their beloved mom passed away and they returned to Safe Haven.

When Molly and Hamish arrived at the shelter, Hamish was very thin and had a wobbly left hind.  X-rays showed a disc compromise, and he was placed on medication until his condition improved.  And now the siblings are ready to find that new loving, forever home.  Hamish and Molly are very bonded and must be adopted together.

REMY

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Gray
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Fini

Remy is a very sweet young kitty who just celebrated her third birthday with her sister and best friend, Fini. Like her sister, Remy loves to be petted, and will purr up a soft storm during the petting process.  She is a little bit more laid back than her sister.  She likes to sleep at the top of their cat tree, but will jump down when someone comes to visit.  She likes to get to know people before she gets up close and personal, and if the visitors move too fast, she’ll run and hide under the couch. So the trick to making friends with Remy is to walk slowly and speak softly. Both Remy and Fini really love their feather wands.

Fini and Remy lived in an apartment in Port Townsend until their caregiver passed, and now they are looking for their new forever home together.

TANK

Domestic shorthair/Siamese mix, male
Color: Siamese
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none
Bonded best friend: Kloe

Tank is a very sweet Siamese cross with striking blue eyes, A little shy at first, he will warm right up to you if you scratch him under the chin.  That’s one of his favorite things, and he really gets off on that! But his absolute favorite thing is to lounge about and watch all the goings on from as high a spot as he can get. If you walk into the room and can’t find Tank, you just need to look at the highest possible place in the room, and Tank will be right there!

Tank and Kloe are best friends, inseparable, and must be adopted together!

MITTENS

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Brown/White Tabby
Size: Extra Large
Age: Senior
Special needs: possible hyperthroidism

Mittens is one of the sweetest, most loving mature kitties we’ve seen. Originally adopted from Safe Haven as a kitten, she was returned because her person needed to go into assisted living. She is a gorgeous brown and white tabby with striking markings, and she definitely doesn’t look (or act) her age! She just wants to be cuddled, loved and petted. She is being tested for hyperthroidism, and is otherwise very healthy. After her tests are complete, nothing would please her more than to find her new furrever home.

KLOE

Kloe and Tank must be adopted together!

LAYLA

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Calico
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Extremely loving and affectionate, Layla came to us when she found a busy new puppy in her already active household just too much to handle. After she started to overgroom from the stress, her folks reluctantly brought her to us to find a quiet and peaceful home where she can bask in all the love and adoration a beauty queen deserves.

Layla is fun-loving and playful with a quirky sense of humor. While she might do well with older children and some friendly cats, she would love to have a calm environment where she can lounge in your bed at night and enjoy a sunny window with a birds-eye view of the world during the day! If you think you are just the right fit for Layla, give us a call to meet this special feline!

KHALEESI

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Calico
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

While Khaleesi was not technically born on the 4th of July, 2014, July 2nd is close enough to validate this beautiful Calico’s reputation as a firecracker! Taken in by a co-worker of the woman who had to give her up when moving, Khaleesi was not a hit with the existing cat in the new home. She was sadly surrendered to us after almost a year of trying to make it work.

Friendly, loving and interactive with her people friends, Khaleesi tends to be a bit bossy with other cats – a trait in common with most Calicos. Funny and smart and all-around charming, this girl would prefer to be the only cat in a home where she has lots of attention and even more adoration! She loves to sleep on your chest and curl up in the crook of your arm.

If you are looking for a gorgeous girl FULL of personality and you have a lot of time and attention to bestow on your new best buddy, then give us a call to meet Khaleesi. She will put the sparkle in all of your days!!!

LITTLE BIT

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Tortie w/white
Size: Medium/Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Little Bit is a gorgeous tortie who is only 2 1/2 years old. This affectionate, smart and funny girl would like to be the only queen in her castle — like most torties, she can be a bit bossy with other cats. And, she really doesn’t care for dogs swimming in her moat — just her Royal Highness, thank you!

Left behind when her young “kitty mom” went to England after school, the plan was to fly Bitty over. But circumstances have intervened and the “grandparents” are now moving as well, and can’t take her along. So, if you want a kitty to warm your bed at night and don’t mind having a cat on your kitchen counter, then give PFOA a call to meet this very special girl with “tortie-tude” to spare!

PANTHER

Domestic short hair, male
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Panther is a sleek and sweet boy!  A bit reserved at first, he loves to hide under a cozy blanket, but will come out for pets and attention as soon as he gets to know you.  It is not surprising that he is a little shy considering that he has lost two different homes and owners due to their passing in just a short time.  Now there has been another move to the shelter–a very confusing and sad time for this nice fellow.

At 5 years of age, Panther is at a wonderful stage of life where he is no longer a crazy kitten, but still active and fun and looking forward to another ten years of life with a loving family.  He will do best in a quiet home with no children or other pets.  After all he has been through, he deserves to be the only pampered and adored fuzzy kid!

ROCKY

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Black
Size: Medium/Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Rocky is the ideal fluffy black male kitty – large but not huge. He has a nice thick ebony coat with silver tips that shine when he’s in the sun.  He’s very sweet and loves to rub up on your legs. He follows you around wherever you go, like a little shadow. He’s not much of a lap cat but loves to be stroked. He’s also very food motivated and loves just about any flavor of Fancy Feast pate.

FRED

Domestic medium hair, male
Color: Gray/white
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: FIV positive

In mid-2021, Fred was hit by a car, and had to have his jaw wired and 12 teeth extracted. He has now recovered very nicely from his surgery, and is like a new cat!  He has a number of followers of his story, so we wanted to update you with how well he is doing.  His fan club of volunteers at Safe Haven are giving him all the attention of a rock star, which he so richly deserves.  In addition to all this attention, he also watches over the caretakers, making sure they are doing their jobs and preparing the food correctly.  He carries on a very intelligent conversation with each of them.  And he is as cute as he can be.  He rolls over when he wants attention and loves it when a willing participant plays ball with him.

There is one thing about Fred that comes across much better in real life than in photos. He has, without a doubt, the softest, finest white fur ever. To cuddle Fred is like cuddling a little white bunny rabbit … an experience not to be missed! So if you would like to meet the softest kitty ever, just give us a call to make an appointment!

MOON

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Classic tabby & white
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Bonded sibling: Star

Star and Moon are gorgeous young sisters around a year old.  They came from the West End along with 11 other kitties from three different litters–all of whom slept together, washed each other and played like little kids.

They both have been around children, dogs, and other cats–incredibly well rounded and social cats.  Moon is particularly affectionate and very curious –she plays well with others and tends to watch out for her sister.  Active and fun, she is a joy to be with.  Star is a bit more laid back and snuggly.  Also good with everyone and everything, this girl is very motherly and sweet.  She LOVES attention and is also very playful.

These girls MUST be adopted together, and the lucky adopter will find these girls to be the light of their home.  Give us a call to make an appointment to meet this beautiful pair.

PATCH

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Brown/white tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Patch is a gorgeous long haired beauty who came to us when her caretaker passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind many neighborhood cats whom she had befriended. These kitties had to be trapped before being brought to us, and they ranged in their levels of sociability. Two have been placed, but Patch is just now getting to a place of trust and comfort where we are actively looking to rehome her.

Patch will need a quiet and patient indoor only home where she will have time to blossom and flourish. She has volunteers that she likes and looks forward to seeing, but she is cautious with folks she doesn’t know. Patch would probably do best as an only child, but she could also enjoy a very mellow, cat-friendly buddy. She will probably take some time to adjust to a new home and family, and will certainly not be a cat who will be greeting strangers at the door for some time to come.

If you are cat-savvy and have a lot of time and the desire to take on a very rewarding project, this pretty girl might be just the new friend for you!  Please give us a call to meet Pretty Patch!

SIMON

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Brown Tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Simon is a very sweet boy who was initially scared, but gradually warmed up to people after receiving a little gentle attention. He will now be the first to greet people he knows, and will immediately come up and roll around your feet, anticipating a good petting. He is still a little nervous of hands and of being petted around the head, but he gets over all that once he figures out that he’s dealing with a good person. He has an exceptional purr, which he will demonstrate as his comfort level increases. He loves all toys, and he particularly loves a good, bushy feather wand. He enjoys his protected outdoor time, and seems to play well with his kitty roommates. We think he would do well with a family without toddlers or young children, but another cat and possibly a cat-savvy dog would work well.

MORTON

Domestic short hair, male
Color: Black/white tuxedo
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Morton is a very friendly young tuxedo who was a stray. He was found by one of our longtime volunteers and brought to Safe Haven. He likes people, especially if they give him a good head scratch. He’s a large kitty, so if he is on a lap getting petted, his head, paws and tail will probably be suspended in midair . When he’s not entertaining guests, he likes to spend lots of time on the enclosed deck, where he can keep an eye on the place and watch all the interesting critters.

HO’KU (“STAR”)

Domestic short hair, male
Color:  Grey & black ticked tabby
Size:  Large
Age:  Young
Bonded brother: Pua

Ho’ku and his bonded brother, Pua, arrived at Safe Haven in early October. Both brothers are about 2 years young, are real sweethearts, and get along well with a variety of people. Ho’ku is very protective of his brother.  At mealtime, Ho’ku emits a very strange yowl, then goes about eating his food.  He eats well, and likes to provide stimulating conversation with his meals. He has been around children and other cats, but both he and his brother would prefer to have a new forever home all to themselves.  Once he gets to know you, he is an affectionate lap cat, fearless, talkative and independent.  He likes crackly things, sleeps on people beds, chews on plants and is active at night.  He loves his scratching post and really enjoys being groomed.  He and his brother are best friends, and must be adopted together.  They will make a fine addition to a family with the right living environment.

PUA (“FLOWER”)

Domestic short hair, male
Color: Orange/white tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young
Bonded brother: Ho’ku

Pua and his bonded brother, Ho’ku, arrived at Safe Haven in early October. Both brothers are about 2 years young, are real sweethearts, and get along well with a variety of people. Pua loves to chew on hands.  He is gentle with children and has lived with six other cats.  Like his brother, Pua is friendly and outgoing, affectionate, playful, vocal and a lap cat.  He loves to be petted and groomed, and to chase bugs. He also loves beards, campers, and occasionally enjoys sharing a bite of his people’s baked potato!  Pua gets along with all cats, but prefers the company of his brother to all others.  He follows people and winds around their legs. He also loves to ride around in his person’s jacket!  He and his brother are best friends, and will be happiest as only children together in their new forever home.

TIGER

Siamese / Domestic short hair, female
Color: Flame point
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Bonded partner: Panther

Tiger is an adorable five year old Flamepoint Siamese mix.  She also loves snuggling under her cozy blankets, but is quick to come out and spend time with visitors.  She is an exceptionally nice cat who will be a wonderful friend after she gets to know and settle in with her new family.

A lifelong partner with her companion cat, Panther, she also has weathered two recent moves and the loss of her people.  She is learning to trust us, and becomes more confident each day.

If you can give this pair the loving indoor only home and security they need, you will be rewarded with a delightful and appreciative duo.  They will thrive in a home with no other pets or children, where they can feel special and cherished.

If you feel that these two are the right cats for you, we would love to arrange an introduction!!

STARBUCKS

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: White
Size: Extra Large
Age: Young Adult
Special needs: none

Starbucks is just a really cool big girl!!  With her one gold and one blue eye, she is both unusual and beautiful.  She loves to roll over on her back and display her large white belly for pets, but may decide that we are being a bit too familiar and give a little swat.

Starbucks was given up when her elderly owner moved in with her daughter who already had cats–the blended family was not a smooth mix.  So, we would like to see this girl as the only cat so her tons of personality can be fully appreciated and enjoyed.  She would probably not do well with younger kids, but dogs might be acceptable as long as they acknowledge her as the queen of the household. Starbucks would need to have an indoor only home, but as with all cats, she does enjoy her enclosed deck.

Friendly and affectionate, this five/six year old will be a wonderfully entertaining companion for a cat-savvy home who will appreciate her unique personality.  To meet this special girl, please call for an appointment to meet and greet Starbucks!!

BERTHA

Domestic medium hair, female
Color: Black
Size: Large
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Bertha is a big, beautiful girl with medium-length silky black hair.  She is a funny girl, hilarious actually, who loves her food – she’s a little overweight.  She loves to rub against people and wind through and around their legs. One of her favorite spots to sit is in her cat tree.  Doesn’t seem to matter what level she’s on; she really loves the tree.  And she will entertain you for hours with her unique purrsonality!

PEANUT

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Orange/white tabby
Size: Large
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Peanut is a very handsome, laid-back cat who loves to be petted and talked to, and when he’s not occupied doing that, he has a favorite cat bed on top of one of the tables where he can lounge about and keep an eye on all the goings on in his room.  He’s been in several
playrooms, and seems to get along well with a huge variety of kitties.  And he’s good with people as well.  His human companion at his former home adored him.  Sadly, Peanut’s  person passed recently.

He is used to being an indoor/outdoor cat, although he seems quite content with his playroom and deck.  In his previous home, there were ducks and turkeys that he got to call his own.  He never chased them, and never harmed a feather on their heads.

He has two very striking characteristics.  He has no teeth, and he snores.  We think it’s possibly because of the lack of teeth, but that’s just a guess.  He also has a loud, but nice, purr.  He’s a super nice, super friendly cat.

Peanut’s favorite companion cat is his roommate, Tango, who is also an orange and white tabby.  Although they are best buds, they don’t have to be adopted together.

SPARKY

Domestic short hair, Male
Color: Grey tabby
Size: Large
Age: Young
Special needs: special diet (UTI)

Sparky is a very handsome grey tabby, about three years old. At some point in his short life, he contracted a urinary tract infection (UTI). Unable to keep him in the house due to the infection, his owner initially made a home for him in the garage, where Sparky kept the garage free of mice and other small critters. Finally, his owner brought him to Safe Haven to find a new forever home.

At Safe Haven, Sparky is on a special diet for his UTI, and should be kept on a UA maintenance diet to prevent a recurrence of UTI.

Sparky is a very active kitty who loves to fetch and play hide ‘n seek. The feather wand is one of his favorite toys, and when it isn’t handy, he easily learns new tricks to entertain himself. He loves to be brushed – as often as possible! His absolute favorite thing is his scratching post. He is a natural hunter, and he is fascinated with bugs and moths.

PHILIP

Domestic shorthair, Male
Color: Brown tabby w/white
Size: Large
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Philip is a very sweet, very shy young adult.  He’s a brown tabby with a spotless white muzzle and bib.  Philip needs a quiet, all-adult, cat-savvy home where he has time to adjust and blossom into a wonderful feline companion.  He does very well with visitors when they spend the time to get to know him.

ZOE

Domestic longhair, Female
Color: Brown & black tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Zoe is a sweetheart! She’s a longhair brown and black tabby with the most gorgeous tail ever – and she’s very proud of it! She is a reserved, quiet, independent kitty, around 10 years young. Although she was adopted with another kitty from PFOA in November of 2013, she really doesn’t care to associate with other cats, and would be best as the Queen Bee and only cat in the family. She loves to be brushed, but will let you know when she’s done. Her favorite spot is at the top of her cat tree, and she doesn’t seem to have a huge interest in the outdoors, so we definitely think she should be an indoor-only kitty. When she’s not on top of the cat tree, she loves to be under pillows and blankets, so people need to be careful where they sit!

.

BUBBA

Domestic longhair, male
Color: Black
Size: Large
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Bubba is a stunning longhair male, all black. He was originally adopted from PFOA as a kitten, and lived with Zoe, another cat who was adopted from PFOA.  However, Zoe seems to prefer being the only cat (Queen Bee) in her life, and Bubba seems to be good with that.  He is quite shy, and we don’t have much more information on him yet. This will be updated when we know more!

ELLA

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Tortie with white
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Ella was a mom to five kittens who have now all been adopted. Now Mom is ready for her furever home. She would like to have all the attention of a one cat home. She’s a very busy kitty who investigates everything and is also an active, playful girl who will talk to you. She loves people and will sit on your lap for snuggly time. She has unique orange tabby rings at the end of her tail to show off how pretty she is.

CHUCKIE

Domestic medium hair, male
Color: Black/white tuxedo
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Chuckie is very, very energetic and likes a lot of interaction. He loves all toys and gets pretty excited when he sees people. His family would need to be very energetic in order to keep up with him.

LOKI

Domestic longhair, female
Color: Grey tabby
Size: Large
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Loki is the purrfect nine year young, longer haired, grey tabby used to sitting in the lap of a mature, loving gentleman who has passed. He loved her so much he gave her lots of treats so she’s just a tad heavier than her ideal weight. She enjoys playing with her favorite kicker toy and feather wand so she’ll be showing off her ideal self real soon. As with all gorgeous longer haired kitties, she should be brushed often so she doesn’t get those nasty tangles in her soft fur. She hasn’t been introduced to children but accepts larger dog friends in her home. A devoted to her guardian lady cat, she loves to snuggle next to her person at night but is fine sleeping in her own bed too. She would prefer not sharing attention with other feline companions and is looking forward to being queen bee in her own furever home.

RANDY

Domestic longhair, male
Color: Grey tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Our Special Needs Caretaker, Tracy, fell in love with Randy the first time she met him. He’s a marshmallow of a boy who wraps his paws around your neck and melts into your chest. People he’s met for the first time can walk into his room, pick him up and cuddle him, and he’s purrfectly all right with that.  He will stay on your lap as long as you let him.  He is the quintessential lovebug and has never met anyone he doesn’t like, including other kitties. He really is a treasure of a senior kitty.

GINGER

Domestic longhair, male
Color: Orange/white tabby
Size: Medium
Age: Senior
Special needs: none

Ginger is a real sweetheart. His coat markings are stunning, making him the most handsome orange and white senior on the block! He loves to spend time on the enclosed, covered deck outside his playroom, when the weather is nice, of course! He loves to have company, and rubs against people’s hands to be petted.  And when they do, he rewards them with extra-special head bumps.  He’s especially grateful if someone puts a nice comfy throw rug out on the deck for him to knead his paws and stretch out.

OZETTE

Domestic shorthair, female
Color: Black
Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Special needs: none

Originally adopted in 2013 from PFOA as a kitten, Ozette is a classy black cat with the cutest heart-shaped markings on her tummy. She enjoys sitting on people’s laps, and is looking forward to finding her new furever home.

JACK

Domestic shorthair, male
Color: Grey tabby/lynxpoint Siamese
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Special needs: none

Jack has the typical lynxpoint coloring and the beautiful blue Siamese eyes. He has a favorite hooded cat bed where he spends time perched on the edge, watching everything happening around him.

SPATZI (January 12, 2005 – October 14, 2021)

Domestic Shorthair, Male
Color: Brown w/white
Size: large
Born: January 12, 2005
Special needs: renal insufficiency

We are sad to report that our Spatzi crossed the Rainbow Bridge on the evening of October 14, 2021.

Spatzi was a beautiful Siamese mix.  His companion of the last ten years has been Spanky, a very handsome tuxedo cat. Two of the gentlest souls you will ever meet, they have been the text book example of well-behaved, loving cats. Spatzi was the more outgoing of the two, often greeting you at the door with a friendly meow and a leg rub. Spanky tends to be more laid back, often lounging in a bed or cat tree. He is easily approachable and loves to be petted and fawned over. Spatzi was in early renal insufficiency and was easily maintained with the fluids he was given twice weekly.

SPANKY

Domestic Shorthair, Male
Color: Black w/White (Tuxedo)
Size: Medium
Born: July 1, 2008 (approx)
Special needs: none

Spanky is a very handsome tuxedo cat.  He was bonded to his “brother” companion, Spatzi for ten years until Spatzi crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 14, 2021.  Spanky is one of the gentlest souls you will ever meet. He is the text book example of a well-behaved, loving cat. He tends to be more laid back than his brother was, often lounging in a bed or cat tree. He is easily approachable and loves to be petted and fawned over. Spanky has diabetes and receives twice daily insulin shots, but is quite well regulated.  Come and meet this handsome boy and you will discover his purrfect purrsonality for yourself!

Spanky

FAGIN (March, 2003 – September 16, 2021)

FAGIN was born in March, 2003 and had been at Safe Haven since July, 2003. He was a green-eyed, short-haired black male who could best be described as a “big lug” full of love. He would “head butt” and lean into his human and feline friends to show his affection. He liked brushing and belly rubs on occasion, too. Fagin was under dietary restriction, and had been quite successful losing some excess weight. Since 2003, he lived at Barker House with his brother, Thistle.

We are sad to report that on September 16, 2021, Fagin joined his twin brother across the Rainbow Bridge.  As much as we will miss Fagin, we know that he will be so happy to be with his brother again, together, forever.

LUCY-ALICE

One day, in early 2011, a sweet, gentle, affectionate little Manx kitten named Lucy-Alice was adopted from PFOA. Lucy-Alice resembled a very small, very colorful Lynx, with her gorgeous green eyes, pointed tufted ears, and calico tabby markings. It was easy to fall in love with her, and she found the best of homes with a couple who adored her.

What her loving parents didn’t know, was that some Manx cats are afflicted with Manx syndrome, a spinal disorder. The mutation that causes the loss or shortening of the tail also affects the spine, spinal cord and nerves. As a result, cats with this condition may have problems with bowel and bladder control. The condition generally shows up in kittens by the time they are four months old.

Lucy-Alice did not show any signs of Manx syndrome until a year after she was adopted. Of course, by this time, Lucy-Alice was a much loved member of her new family. When she began to have little “accidents”, they hoped that they were just that – simple accidents. But they were attached to Lucy-Alice. She was so loved. “Maybe she will grow out of it,” they thought. “It will just take a little more time.”

After considerable more time, they had to acknowledge that Lucy-Alice would not grow out of it. Their decision was heart-wrenching, but unavoidable. They contacted Nancy, the Shelter Director at Peninsula Friends of Animals. Could PFOA take Lucy-Alice back? This was not a decision to be taken lightly. Lucy-Alice would require a substantial investment of time and money.  A generous gift from a very special supporter allowed PFOA to set up a special area, called “Turtle Towers”, for Lucy-Alice and an older kitten, Bobbie Jo, who also has Manx syndrome. Unfortunately, Bobbie Jo, having lived her first years of life as a single kitty, did not enjoy the company of gregarious Lucy-Alice and trouble broke out between the two girls. It became apparent that the best thing would be to separate the pair.

Lucy-Alice is one of the sweetest, most loving kitties anyone could ever hope to meet. Everyone who spends any time with her falls irrevocably in love with her. And that’s what happened when Tracy, Animal Caretaker at Barker House, first met Lucy-Alice in the summer of 2016. On a bright, sunny day, a couple of months later, Tracy came to pick up Lucy-Alice and take her to her new home at Barker House, a small PFOA facility designed for the care of special needs animals.  Lucy-Alice will probably remain at Barker House for the rest of her life. There are very few people who have the type of facilities, and the time, money and dedication needed to provide a good home for her. PFOA is committed to providing Lucy-Alice with the best quality of life possible.

We are grateful to the sponsors who contribute to the care of Lucy-Alice, as well as our other special needs animals.  While we still hope that Lucy may find her own family to love and care for her, it is not likely. So, for the rest of her days, Lucy will enjoy her life with her beloved caregiver in the sunny warm rooms of Barker House.

Lucy-Alice

MARTHA

MARTHA was born in May, 2001 and came to PFOA in February, 2002. She loves attention and “talks” to the volunteers who regularly visit her. She was recently placed in a foster home, where she has adjusted well and has a happy home.
